Skegness travelled to Sutton-on-sea to take part in Sutton Seadogs walking rugby tournament in 30+ degree temperatures the tournament was certainly a sweaty one!
This is the first tournament that Skegness shave taken part in since walking rugby was introduced to the club this summer!
First up Skegness played a strong Wath Upon Dearne side who had travelled down for the weekend. After a shakey start and a few learnings on the go of the nuances and laws of walking rugby Skegness ended up coming away 4-0 winners.
Next Skegness faces local rivals Market Rasen & Louth who travelled with a large squad. Skegness again managed to finish the game without conceding 3-0.
The last pool game was against the hosts and friends the Sutton Seadogs. Sutton moved the ball well and managed to score a well worked try on the right touchline. This wasn’t enough to take the game from Skegness who won 3-1.
In the final Skegness again played Market Rasen and after a tough start where it looked like Rasen had scored, only for them to hve been brought back to due to a technicality. Skegness eventually found a break when Ben ‘Fin Russell’ Frost managed to find a way through the middle to put Jonathan Cussons in for the first of his two tries in the final. Skegness managed to hold rasen out and take the win at 3-0.
Well done to Sutton Seadogs for organising and hosting a fantastic day!
